Summer Reading List from your banker!
Filed in Uncategorized, August 20, 2005, 11:25 pm by Sukumar TweetSummer reading lists are popular. JP Morgan has decided to publish their summer reading list that they give it to their high net worth (>$25MM) clients so that the rest of us mere mortals can benefit. It does have some good ones. Interestingly, getting book recommendations from your banker is a tradition. Come to think of it, if your net worth is that high, i am sure your banker is an important person in your life, so why not get book recommendations! Tanjore restaurant – one of the best in home style
Filed in Food, , 11:15 pm by Sukumar TweetTanjore restaurant in North Brunswick serves home style vegetarian food. The weekend lunch buffet is a must-eat. Been there four times now and the food has been consistently superb. You can get to eat hard to find dishes like paruppu usili, vattral kozhumbu, south indian home style pakodas. You also get the traditional favorites like Pongal, uthappam, desserts like Kesari. Every single dish is finger-licking good. Don’t miss this. Tip: make sure you reach right at 12 noon for the weekend buffet to beat the crowds. Once i went at 1 PM and there was a queue of almost 50 people. (Original recommendation via Sanjay Radhakrishnan).
Repeal the Wright Amendment
Filed in Uncategorized, August 18, 2005, 4:31 am by Sibu TweetThis is the most arcane & protectionist law I’ve ever heard of : Wright Amendment. Basically, Wright Amendment is a law that was put in place six years after the opening of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to block long-haul flights out of nearby Love Field Airport. This limits Southwest to fly only to the neighbouring states. What are they going to come up with next? Detroit cannot sell cars to the states other than North East ? Its a sad irony that the law carries the same name as of the flight inventors. Encourage you to write to your legislators to repeal this law.
