God’s ways
TweetL.R.G. Government Arts college where I was first promoted as Principal had a Strength of roughly 500 students and a staff Strength of 50 members including the P.D.and the Librarian.
The Department of Mathematics had 6 young members of Staff very brisk active and athletic. One among them was Ms Anandhi (name changed for privacy reasons) a very good Sportsperson. She was very good at Throwball , Netball and Ball Badminton and a friendly person.
Two years went by and one day she came up to meet me as one of her College friends was getting married and she wanted two days of Casual leave.
In that college only the college Administration Office and the Principal’s room were in the first floor. When she sat before me I noticed her shortness of breath and that appeared strange from an athlete. Besides that her throat looked swollen . I was worried and I asked her whether she was okay?
She told me that her throat has been swollen for several days but she experienced no pain. When she told me that she wanted a couple of days leave,
I advised her to extend her leave by one more day and consult a good Doctor. She smiled and took leave of me.
She came to college after three days and said that her friend also advised her to consult a Doctor. She had the Doctor’s appointment and the Doctor had advised her to meet him after some medical tests. The next day she was on leave again. The very next day the other members came to see me and said with very sad face that Ms Anandhi’s Doctor had
referred her to an Oncologis.
I was shocked.. Ms Anandhi was married and she had a four year old son. Besides that she was pregnant with her second child.
Two days later her husband came to see me and told me that his wife had Cancer.
Oh! No!
He held my hands and cried and I had to comfort him while my heart was bleeding. Ms Anandhi went on Medical leave and whenever she wanted to see me I used to travel to her place some 30 kilometers away. I spent sometime with her.
She delivered a baby boy after a few months and after that she died. The entire college was mourning.
All that I could do for her husband was to hold his hand and console him. I also expedited her official papers and did what little I could do for the family.
God’s ways and dealings..oh! God !!
