A giant redwood tree is named "<a href="http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_761564404/Sequoia_(tree).html" rel="nofollow">Sequoia</a>" which is believed to be named after the Sequoyah and also there is a "Toyota Sequoia" van. In one FRIENDS episode, Rachel and Ross would discuss names for their to-be-born child, and Sequoyah was one of the options. I thought it was a made up name. Great post.
